Nepal Evergreen
Planting for people, planet and future generations
Nepal Evergreen is a volunteer-led initiative dedicated to planting fruit trees and native species across rural communities in Nepal, restoring natural habitats and creating sustainable livelihoods for local farmers.
Between 2021 and 2024, over 30,000 saplings were distributed across planting sites, including lemon, apple, peach, walnut, lychee and Sichuan pepper. In 2024, communities celebrated their first harvest of kiwis, lemons, oranges and avocados, a milestone reflecting years of dedication and care. In June 2025, a further 2,000 trees were planted in Landruk in the Annapurna region.
Beyond food security and economic opportunity, the project actively offsets the carbon footprint of tourism in Nepal. A return flight to Nepal produces 4–5 tonnes of CO2, and through long-term tree growth and carbon sequestration, the programme helps address this impact for generations to come.
